Unlike conventional frictions made with metal additives such as steel wool, brass, nickel or other metal components, SilverbackHD uses ceramic fiber to better dissipate heat and reduce wheel end temperature. Ceramic keeps wheel ends 100 to 200 degrees cooler. The lower wheel temperature means less brake fade, longer life for shoes and drums, plus related components such as wheel seals and tires due to reduced exposure to heat.

The effect of less fade, coupled with ingredients that promote greater torque, means that SilverbackHD frictions offer improved stopping distances. Depending on the friction grade, SilverbackHD provides 20% to 30% shorter stopping distance.
