Brake Hardware Kits


Brake geometry, the alignment of the brake to the spider, cam and drum, is essential for proper braking efficiency. However, many truck and bus brake hardware kits use inferior parts that result in flat-spotting cam rollers, rusted and worn-out anchor pins and malfunctioning return springs that cause brake drag. The result is poor brake performance, reduced safety and a higher cost per mile.

SilverbackHD GeoMetric™ Series brake hardware maintains brake geometry for a better brake with better drum performance. Our hardware is manufactured using our Intentional Engineering™ process to focus on the trouble spots that most compromise brake efficiency and safety, and to harmonize with SilverbackHD GeoMetric™ new-lined brake shoes.


  • Fortified Return Springs
    All SilverbackHD GeoMetric™ return springs are service cycle tested to at least 300,000 cycles, or double the aftermarket standard. While some manufacturers use decades-old standards for cycle testing that result in brake drag on today’s demanding road conditions, SilverbackHD GeoMetric™ springs use Intentional Engineering™ to ensure that your brake shoes are properly returning and do not prematurely wear friction and drum with every revolution of the wheel. 

    Because brake frictions are now thicker and shoes are wider than ever before, the return spring often has to carry a heavier load. You can count on the GeoMetric™ Series brake hardware, which is built with 50% more tensile strength.

    SilverbackHD engineers determined that broken return springs are a leading cause of premature failure in the brake industry. That’s why every GeoMetric™ return spring is heat-treated for longer life.

  • Intentionally Engineered™ Cam Rollers
    The cam roller negotiates the true alignment of shoes to drum. Uneven wear that causes cam roller spotting also causes uneven friction wear. To maintain rolling functionality of the cam roller, SilverbackHD uses a wide-pattern knurling. This dual-purpose knurling allows the S-cam to efficiently grab the roller and keep it turning, while the knurls are spaced far enough apart to prevent road sediments from clogging the cam roller. 

    Our GeoMetric™ rollers are heat-treated in a proprietary two-step process that guarantees a uniform HRC60 Rockwell hardness. This Intentional Engineering™ specification matches the S-cam head hardness on all SilverbackHD GeoMetric™ Series S-cams, as well as the heat-treating on all SilverbackHD GeoMetric™ new-lined brake shoes.

  • Improved Anchor Pins and Bushings
    Frequent replacement of the anchor pins and bushings is essential to proper brake geometry, but inferior pins and bushings often rust, making it nearly impossible to remove without expensive labor or possible damage to the spider. 

    SilverbackHD GeoMetric™ Series anchor pins are heat-treated to an HRC60 Rockwell hardness. This improvement slows erosion from the brake and spider that can cause brake walk and throw off brake geometry. SilverbackHD also uses high-quality stainless steel bushings with every anchor pin/bushing combination to reduce corrosion. The result is an easier change of pins and bushings for better brake geometry.

  • OE-Grade Corrosion Resistance
    All SilverbackHD GeoMetric™ Series hardware components are Intentionally Engineered™ to exceed the industry’s highest standards of corrosion resistance. All springs are powder coated to withstand 1,000 hours of salt spray corrosion. Gold zinc dichromate plating (five times more corrosion resistant than white zinc) is used on all cam rollers, and anchor pins are also zinc plated. Our plating process ensures better protection than lower-quality coating processes. Finally, corrosion-resistant stainless steel is used on our anchor pin bushings.
